We do Mother's Day in March. So I don't have to panick thinking I've missed it.

Mother's day memory: As a kid in the country I got up REALLY early and crept into a restricted area on the Estate where we lived. It was intended for the sole use of the posh residents of the Stately Home there. Once over the fenceI tiptoed between the deer and picked about 3,000 yellow daffodils and took them back to Mum. Could hardly carry them. Memories.

WOW, you were a thoughtful little boy, weren't you.
Your mother must have been both proud and "totally besides herself" at the same time... what a wonderful, thrilling gift.

About, 20 years ago (time flies!) While living in a very cold city, a romantic interest came to visit me from the coast one early April.
He flew in with, literally, an armload of daffodils (and he was a large man) in the white , pale and darker shades... my apartment ended up with wall to wall yellow flowers. Spectacular.
LOOOOOved it.

Good thing I loooove flowers, including dandelions...they're gorgeus too!

I've only had one female friend give me flowers as a return for a favour I did them. I loved it.

And Dandelions! Why is it when Brits get dandelions in their lawns they go ballistic looking for the weedkiller? They're so much prettier than grass!!!

I agree with dandelions. I used to collect them for my mum but she was allergic to them. I think they are all kinds of pretty and the flowers with the seeds you blow off and are white. I never did understand why people didn't like them....

Can't you get high on dandelions? That white juice in the stem?

Donno

Italians use dandelion greens for salads and the root had medicinal properties.

Hate to disappoint you Ian.
The race to extinguish the dandelion is going on strong around these parts as well.

It looks like not many of us (childern Kora and I?) are tolerant, let alone be in favor of them.
And yes, when thay get to the fluffy stage and the breeze blows them away... nice

When my mother came to visit me in the country, she made it her mission to seek and destroy them. She was obsessed with them and upset that I was not on extermination patrol duty on a daily basis.
I actually grew to like them. Would tell her they were “gifts from God” but she didn’t want to hear it…

I like to gift man with flowers. They are just as deserving of beauty as women are. I wics it would be something that was totally "reciprocal".

Flowers are beautiful... I prefer the ones that can grow on their own. i can grow everything else but flowers are not my specialty. Give me tree seeds i can probably make them grow give me a cutting i could probably make it grow. Give me a flower i have to take care of and good luck. I am better when i can leave the flowers to their own devices. lol... I love dandelions...
