I'll never understand how it is that some designers / architects have such arrogance that they fail to consult the environment around their intended creations BEFORE picking up their pencil. There's no harmonic relationship in this as far as I can see.

The “little cottage” is not that small, but it is dwarfed by the new construction.
White Rock used to be a wonderful “lush” little city (tucked into a cozy bay in the Strait of Georgia next to the US border).
It is rapidly becoming a “concrete nightmare”.
In the summer it gets so hot it is almost impossible to walk on the streets – due to total lack of shade – until rather late in the afternoon…
The few trees left in public areas are cropped down to their trunks.
Thank God there are a few die-hard property owners that value their lifestyle more than a money – tough call for many!
The old mighty dollar has become the measuring stick.
I believe that consistent/continued destruction of natural habitat of this scale amounts to a “criminal act” according to “my law books”.

I won’t even mention what is going on “up the hill”. Many peoples tempers are being frayed at the moment…
To be continued, I am sure.
