That building is being erected rigth on North Bluff - North edge of White Rock - taller towers to come shortly... which has brought on a lot of serious animosity and a present court action aaint City Hall...
This is a wonderful spot overlooking the half of "eight" shape pond; always with some vivitng waterfowl and namy bird species being heard sing - very, very peaceful!

Thimbleberries!?
Never-ever heard of them.
We know them/call them blackberries - they grow wild all over the lower mainland.
As a matter of fact all along the train tracks - where Amtrak winds around the lower mainland - is overgrown with them...
---------------------
Just checked my "Northwestern Wild Berries" book and lo-and-behold, their it is - with photo!
OK this one has the thorns that practically reach after you when you walk by and it ripens to a dark, dark red ' black -
It appears the thimbleberries is red and no "prickles" - even the leaves of these ones snarl at ya
In the photo I was looking at
(the one just above the building going up) the leaves appear to be large and soft, and the unripe berries large and flat - like a cap. I thought those were thimbleberries....
I know those nasty blackberries (that grow a mile a minute and have wicked thorns that can remove a limb) - I fight them year round at on my property as well!
Again - Lovely photos.
You are correct!
After I posted I went back to check up on the "official" photos, the blackberry leaves shows as being oval...
Which makes me speculate on the possibility hat we may have a "cross" variety - you know those Italians - thereareacultivatingthem - in their backyards... "a regional variety" - because without a doubt, here, it is a blackberry.
But I will take this as an assignment an follow up until "munchie ready"
I will be most curious to find out what you figure out, so will be staying tuned.
I just ate the three ripe thimbleberries in my yard a few days ago. They are so delicate.
