Acquiring a piece of art must be a work of love (unless you are a multi-millionaire looking for a great high or simply investing).
On that note, I like to continue with the affirmation to only buy it if you love it – making it your only criteria, after you establish a somewhat flexible budget.
Contrary to popular belief – carried on, and on, by interior designers – the art piece or pieces do not have to match either your sofa or the colour of your walls…!
However, it does not mean that if they happen to complement your home’s “existing” colour scheme, that it may not be a plus.
Each piece is individual, is independent from anything else, and it must be looked at as such.
Feel free to visit any public or private gallery and ask as many questions as you want, if by chance, you are not getting the “service” you deserve, simply walk out as you would from any other shop.

Dear Quasar
Yes, H. Squire's... places of worship... it had to be rescued!
The "Cuba 1929" was found "tucked" to my great-grand mother back (kitchen) door in Hungary in the 1980's, blackened by time.
Since my strong connection with my grandfather while he was alive (his spirit lives in me) it was given to me.
Loved it since I set eyes on it - had cleaned and framed and here it is for all of you to share. Such delightful little scene!
The fall leaves, well.. we did not part either!
Thank you for stopping by!
Love and joy to you

NOt only buying what you love, but living with it, making it your own - part of your life, that is what art is - life!

GAnga, thank you for your visit and comments
a lovely weekend for you and yours
It is interesting to buy art because in essence, the work is the artist's, of course, but you are looking for something that strikes you--something that expresses you in a way. I always hated it when people purchased art because it just "matched" the colors of the room they were thinking of. Art is so much more than the picture in the frame that "brings the room together." Fie on bad interior designers for creating such a perception! ;-)
Totally with you slskenyon!
I have been disgusted from some of the ways people have purchased art - for investment... as if shopping for a good cut of beef!
Once overheard a couple bickering about the number of "figures and trees" in a particular painting at the show of a very prominent artist, she wanted the one that had "more" of them... simply sick.
I can't afford to buy Angeldust, but I have a huge collection of images in the computer. I just love it. Going through them gives such a pleasure but nothing like having the original on your wall. Prints are not available here. But I find framing in India is much better more artistic than what I have seen in pictures of European museums.
You have a lovely collection Angeldust.
Rauf dear,
Your Art is your Photography.
You live it every day - no money can buy that...
You are not missing much when it comes to prints - another over-done gimmick here in NA, sucked in a lot of low income "investors" that have stacks of them under their beds (with no hope in hell to ever re-sell one), particularly those "limited editions" that had to be pre-ordered and run in the thousands...
Although, to be fair one under 200 is not too bad, anything under that is far better.
I prefer Artists Proofs - just a thing of mine.
You know, the bottom line is that even a poster from a master is a good thing when there are no choices...
Just had an idea.... I should email you...????
Love and joy
hmm. i like the pointers, they are very useful. Does it disturb you to see one of you works displayed in a different way then you intended??
